Can't Stop Me Now

So last April 27, 2013, the first 12-hour music festival in the Philippines was held. And it was soooooo fun! To all those who went, y'all know what I'm talking about. ;)

At the entrance :)

Shane (my forever buddy in everything) and I decided to go later in the night because we figured we might not last all morning dancing if we went there too early. By the time we got there, Jump Smokers were already on stage and they were killing it. The crowd was already high though it's only 7 pm.

Next to perform was Dev. We were hanging out at the back by the time Jump Smokers finished so when it was announced that Dev was next, I ran like crazy to the crowd. Hahaha. Dev is one of my faves, that's why ;) And her voice is really sooooo sexy. I love her crew and back up! And her whole set was soooo fun. ;)

Then it was Cobra Starship. Again, we ran. What's with me and running?! Lol anyway, it was also a super fun set! There were so many people packed together because we all love Cobra Starship so it was a bit hard to dance around. Still, we had an amazing time. Hearing them play their music live is ..... :)

Next was Alex Gaudino. He opened with the mix ' Gaudino! Gaudino! Gaudino! ' and I got so LSS to it that even when we were already home, I still kept saying that. Hahaha. During his set, Shane and I took the opportunity to rest for a while. It's still early and were already tired. We also checked out some of the booths they had.

Let's talk about what I wore now... ;) Since it's a music festival, I opted to go for comfort. I've seen enough photos of Coachella so I took my cue from there. I wore my favorite high waisted shorts with my D-I-Y Lee shirt. :D Also, my glasses had its debut on my blog! Haha! Good thing it goes with the outfit. :D

We stayed back until the last hour of Apster. We even ran into Sam YG, so coooool. Haha! Then we went back inside to enjoy Apster's awesome music. We were in the middle of the crowd when he finished then the crowd around us started screaming "Afrojack! Afrojack! Afrojack!" A few minutes after that, he's out! The two hours of his set was THE BEST! I swear everyone was having fun. It's already midnight-early morning, we were all sweaty and tired but that didn't stop us from dancing and jumping to Afrojack's beats. The fireworks and confetti were all over us as well.

After Afrojack was Cedric Gervais. We hang back for a bit then decided to go back and sit for a while because we were so tired then decided to go home. :D Everything's worth it. ;)

Hopefully, there will be another one of this next year because we certainly had a blast. :) TSG

The title is from the last song Afrojack played- 'Can't Stop Me Now'. Here it is, enjoy! :)

Photos from Shane's iPhone. My camera failed me, that's why.

Close Up Summer Solstice

Heeeyyyy! :)

I'm back! Well, sort of. Haha! I was on a 2-week hiatus after my final exams + block outing and swore to not go out of our residence until I see my grades. I can't believe I actually did it. I, who is notorious for gala, going out, and all that, managed to stay put. (Actually, I also felt that its too hot to go out and I prefer the comfort of my home than the super mega heat of the sun here in Manila. Lol) What I have been doing this summer are these: read my bookssss and catch up on to watch TV shows and movies. I managed to catch up on Game of Thrones before the third season premiered in the US last April 1 (April 2 here in PH. :D). I'm still catching up on Arrow and my to read books are still piling up, so... yeah. ;)

ANYWAY. It's Close Up Summer Solstice!

Solstice, by definition, is either of the two times of the year when the sun is at the most greatest distance of the celestial equator. Summer Solstice is when the sun reaches its northernmost point in the celestial sphere while Winter Solstice is when the sun reaches its southernmost point. Also, summer solstice is the longest day of the year while winter solstice is the shortest. But since I'm in the Philippines, I'm not sure if the summer solstice is the same with the western countries. Everyday is like a summer solstice here because of the heat. Lol. (Trivia: I first learned about the two solstices in Percy Jackson series. The gods love those days. Haha and I wanted to understand better so I looked it up a bit, that's how I know what I just told you. Nag-lecture pa talaga ako. :D)

However, the Close Up Summer Solstice event

... is a 12-hour Non-stop Music Festival, from 4 PM to 4 AM at MOA Concert Grounds on April 27. This is the first year that Close Up is giving us this event so I am sure it will be a blast. Although there has been other music festivals, in the Philippines before, I think this is the largest festival, yet. Music lovers like me is very excited for this because it would feel like Coachella (Mind you, I know I'm not alone in saying that I dream of attending Coachella someday), but instead of 3 days of music, we have 12 hours of partying and music.

What makes this event one of the biggest party in the Philippines yet are the artists performing. Close Up will be flying in 7 international artists and 3 of the most sought after local bands.

After seeing all these artists, who wouldn't want to go to this event, right?
I'm looking forward to seeing Dev, DJ Afrojack, and Cobra Starship, though Gabe will not be there :( Sad. Nevertheless, the DJ set will be there so I know it will still be awesome. Yey!

And these are some of the moments I'm looking forward to:

So, who's excited? I know I am. ;)

Visit http://closeupsummersolstice.com.ph for ticket prices and other information.

Follow Close Up on these sites:

You really should follow them on Twitter and Facebook because they give away tickets sometimes, and that's how I got mine. :)))) See you there! TSG

Under The Never Sky

Helloooooooo!!
First, let me greet someone-

HAPPY 1st ANNIVERSARY THAT SUBLIME GIRL!!!!

Yey! Can you believe it? It's been more than a year since I started this blog and here we are now.
Thank you to everyone who's with me every step of the way. Thank you to my sponsors and brands that I represent (GlamnFab Shoppe, Zalora, MsDressy, Bib & Tucker, Anonymity). Thank you to all my friends who I always asked to take my outfit photos (there's more to come I swear! Haha). Thank you to all my GFC followers, Bloglovin followers, Lookbook fans, Tumblr followers, 'Independent Fashion Bloggers' friends, Chictopia fans and friends, Facebook friends, and Twitter followers. Thank you to all the people who complimented, criticized (constructively), promoted, trusted, read, and just browsed through this site. Thank you to the people who inspired me to do this, who patted me on my back, and pushed me to continue. Basically, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS BLOG. Without you, I would not get thousands of views every month. I love you all.

I actually should have posted this last March 1 because it was the actual date of my first ever post (The First Leopard), but due to my amazing schedule, I didn't really get the chance. Since summer vacation is just a couple of weeks away, expect giveaways and more posts from me. I'm thrilled that I get to share my thoughts again through this site. (Actually I'm a bit active on Tumblr, you will know why as you read on. Haha!)

OKAY. Since I'm in a festive mood and it's also Prom Season for the High School lot, what I'm sharing to you now is the dress I got from my sponsor, MsDressy. I will also put a few tips for your Prom Night (given yours is still a few days away).

Very pa-tweetums ang pose! Hahaha!
I'm back to my dark hues. Ha! I loved how easy it is to style this dress. Maybe it's because I was the one who chose it, including the color. Well, actually I picked that color because I realized I dont have a lot blues in my closet, so yes, it is perf.

Prom Tip #1
Choose a dress color that is appropriate to your body color. Try on what looks good on your body.

Me: "Sige na nga, fierce na kunwari. ;)"
Another thing that I loved about this is the dramatic tail. Im always in it for drama specially in clothes (Gossip Girl influence) and this one made the cut.

Prom Tip #2
Make sure that the dress you choose flatters your body and you are comfortable to move in it. Prom nights are special and fun, you don't want to spend half of the night tugging on your dress when you should be dancing with your crush, right? Wear the dress, your dress shouldn't be wearing you.

Prom Tip #3
Choose a purse where all essentials will fit: pressed powder, oil control film, lip gloss, small mirror, phone, tissue/wipes, hairpins and ties, band aid, and a small camera. (an Instax will be perfect for this!)

One more detail to love about my dress is the beading in the middle part. It provides just the right amount of shine. They also look like stars on a night sky. And it cinches the waist perfectly.

Prom Tip # 4
Bring on the bling. Promenades is one of the best times to SHINE, literally and metaphorically. Put on your best jewels and accessories to match the dress. Oh, also your winning personality and you will definitely shine. :)

If you're wondering what the title is all about or where it is from, it is actually the title of the first book of the series by Veronica Rossi, Under The Never Sky. I am a huge bookworm  and dystopian literatures continue to immerse me in their post-apocalyptic world. (And is one of the reasons why I haven't posted here for a while, so many books to read, so little time! And Tumblr is where I express all my feels in the books I read. So if you're also on Tumblr, follow me. Yey!)

The beads in my blue dress reminded me so much of this book where electric storms are occurring every now and then. Also, this dress made me think of the home of the male lead, The Tides.

I think I'm making you dizzy with the loooooong and mazed post. I'm just really grateful and excited to do this again. I'm planning on basing some outfits to the characters of the books I read. We'll see where I get to float my boat this summer. Again, from the bottom of my hypothalamus- THANK YOU.

One last.

Prom Tip #5
Be yourself. ENJOY.

It's that time of the year again, when celebrities and movie lovers alike flock on to the most prestigious award giving body- Academy Awards (Oscars).
I, for one, am a big fan of awards nights like this even as a child and if I can't watch them, I make sure that I know what happened then. Good thing for me, Oscars 2013 came right on to the anniversary of Edsa Revolution, a holiday and I got the chance to watch it (via livestream) thanks to the wonders of the internet. ;)

On to the dresses...
The peg for this year's Oscars dresses had been white, black, and sparkly. There were also few pops of color here and there. Many impressed us with their beautiful gowns, but some also failed to make the cut.

1. Amy Adams in Oscar dela Renta
She looks every bit a princess in this number. The details were fine and the long train looked dramatic on her, well suited for the Oscars. (Oscar dela Renta is one of my favorite designers. Just saying. :D)

2. Adele in Jenny Packham
Yet another black ensemble for this talented lady, but she made sure to look sultry as she sang "Skyfall" on the stage and when she won the award for Best Original Song. ;)

3. Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen
Did you know that this dress was custom made for her? Wow. How many people in this planet can proudly say, "I have a custom made Alexander McQueen dress." Not many I'm sure and she deserves to be one of them! This talented actress looks fresh and vibrant for McQueen.

4. Catherine Zeta Jones in Zuhair Murad
She is glowing in this beautiful gown! When did she stop aging again? CZJ looks as young as ever. And her jazz number during the show was superb.

5. Charlize Theron in Dior
Wow. Does she ever look ugly in anything? Her look is classic, however I expected a little bit more from her. After all, she's Charlize Theron.

6. Fan Bing Bing in Marchesa
Ahhhhm. I haven't got the slightest idea who she is BUT OH MY GOSH HER DRESS! Very debutante! I love it!

7. Halle Berry in Versace
This dress made her shine through the crowd. She looks stunning.

And now here come the Jennifer's.

8. Jennifer Aniston in Valentino
Very few tried to wear the ball gown in color and Aniston is one of them. With no slit showing from Angelina Jolie, Aniston wanted attention she deserves. Did she get it? Perhaps. The dress is beautiful as it is but looks a bit big on her.

9. Jennifer Garner in Gucci
Garner looks ethereal in this Gucci number. She looks fresh, happy, all of it. She carries this dress well and plum seems to be her color.

10. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture
Another white dress. BUT it is not just another white dress because this is JLaw we're talking about. Have I mentioned how much I love her as an actress? (I guess I have, duh, Hunger Games post.) She's very versatile and spontaneous. She deserves her Best Actress award and I was even nervous when they were announcing the award. (Affected?) Haha! If you saw how she tripped on the stairs as she made her way to accept the award, I was like "Oh, JLaw I love you!" Still graceful even when tripping. How I wish all of us could trip and still look as great as her. Haha! Anyhoo, I was also waiting for what she would wear for Oscars, seeing that she wore beautiful dresses in the previous awards nights. No one would doubt that she isn't a winner.

10. Jennifer Hudson in Roberto Cavalli
Our last Jennifer on the list. Wow girl, way to flaunt your new, hot bod! The hair, the dress, the look, a little bit iffy on the shoes, though but whatever, she had a standing ovation on the Dreamgirls feature, so no one's questioning her.

11. Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive
This Oscar-nominated actress IS a star. Look at how she's working her dress! Classic ensemble, lovely face.

12. Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
Looking young in her mermaid-esque dress, Washington walker her way through Oscars with this coral number and an infectious smile on her face.

13. Kristin Chenoweth in Tony Ward Couture
Don't you just love her? Chenoweth did some numbers on the pre-show and also did the final number with Sean. She's quite funny and her dress looks great on her.

14. Maria Menounos in Romona Keveza
This lady is one of my favorite hosts! She's so pretty and effortless in this pink dress. It also shows of her amazing curves. Gotta love her.

15. Naomi Watts in Armani Prive
Though she did not bag the Best Actress Award, I still give her the award for "Best Dressed Female". Agree? Just look at her! Her gown is different from all the others and she made sure that she carries it beautifully. (I love sequined dresses that's why I love her look. :P)

16. Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott
Another lady who doesn't age. Come on people tell me your secrets! I want to look the same when I reach your age! Haha! Though the dress looks a little bit overworked for me, this is one of Kidman's best outfits- yet.

17. Olivia Munn in Marchesa
Exquisite embroidery on the dress, just the right amount of drapes, good color combination, head turning lippie- way to go in pulling off this look, Miss Munn!

18. Queen Latifah in Badgley Mischka
The Queen looks elegant in this simple white dress. She's dazzling.

19. Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton
Perfect hair! Though, I am not digging her dress that much.

20. Renee Zellwegger in Carolina Herrera
Sexy lady! Wow! Look at the way the dress hugs her body. She's stunning as the gold of her dress.

21. Robin Roberts in Marc Bouwer
I love the color of her velvet dress. It suits her well and she's looking great and in shape!

22. Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen
Salma Hayek!! She has been one of my favorites since I watched 'Bandidas'. I love her dress! The blue velvet + amazing neckpiece. Wow. Just wow.

23. Samantha Barks in Valentino
This lady's voice is magnificent! I loved her as Eponine in LesMiz. Plus the cast did an amazing job in their number at the show. And look at her waistline! In the movie, we noticed how small her waistline is, but we thought that it was just because of the corset she's wearing, but no, it's the real deal. She made a safe decision in choosing a simple black dress, but a bold one in choosing to show off her cleavage like this. Wise girl.

24. Sandra Bullock in Ellie Saab
This Oscar winner actress looked elegant in this lacey number. Though she did not put much effort in anything else, she still looks beautiful.

If you're wondering why our darling, Anne Hathaway is not on this list, well... Let's just say that her Prada dress is not what we would choose for her on this event. Still love her, though. And, if you were intently watching the show (like me), you may have noticed the men who wore their facial hair proudly. Haha! I don't know, was it a trend or something? Anyhoo, the men looked dapper and dashing in their suits.

1. Ben Affleck
The director/producer of the Best Picture is one of the many men who is in their facial hair. Loved his speech as well.

2. Bradley Cooper

3. Channing Tatum

4. Chris Pine

5. Chris Evans

6. Daniel Radcliffe
Hey, Danny boy! ;) (Ahm, why did he have to present with Stewart?! The lady looked like she didn't want to be there at all. Just saying. Oh well.)

7. Daniel Day- Lewis

8. George Clooney

9. Hugh Jackman

10. Jeremy Renner

11. Joseph Gordon- Levitt
No one is allowed to question why this man is this list. Haha!

12. Justin Theroux

Here are some of my favorite moments from the show.

LesMiz perferomace. I had goosebumps during this one. ;)

Adele's Skyfall performance. Okay. I really waited for this one! I love Adele, that's why. ;)

Jack Nicholson and US First Lady, Michelle Obama presenting the award for 'Best Picture'. WOW.

Some snapshots from my favorite winners of the night.  ;)

One last photo. JLaw being herself during the red carpet with Bradley Cooper

And that's all for my recap of the Academy Awards 2013. Til next year. ;) TSG
